Solid Sample Evaluation from
New Mexico well
-
Solubility test was utilized to evaluate Multi-StimScale's ability in addressing an acid insoluble scale sample collected from New Mexico well. A successful product will break, disperse, and solubilize the solids into fine pieces.
-
Testing temperature was downhole temperature 95°F.
-
Solubility test was conducted utilizing neat product.

Testing Summary
-
Customer provided solid sample collected from a recent pull.
-
Sample composition is mainly inorganic, based on initial observation.
-
Sample analytical evaluation was conducted to determine exact composition.
-
Test was performed using 3 grams of the original sample and 100ml of the treatment.
-
Samples were placed into a bottle with the treatment at room temperature and then in a water bath at 95°F for 24 hours.
-
Observations were recorded during this time.
15% HCl Testing
Confirming it was not an acid soluble scale

Acid Solubilization Testing

Solid Analysis- NM well
Test Procedure
-
The procedure utilized in the barium solubility testing is as follows:
-
100mL of treatment is added to a prescription bottle.
-
~3 grams of solid sample was used and placed into bottle.
-
A hot water bath was set to testing temperature 95°F.
-
Samples were dosed at the prescribed treatment.
-
Bottles with treatment were placed in the hot water bath at testing temperature.
-
Samples were removed from the water bath after 24hours.
-
After cooling, sample was observed/ evaluated and final notes are recorded.
-
Additional bottles were evaluated with a dilution of the treatment with fresh water (FW) and same soaking conditions to evaluate performance vs neat product solubility.

The evaluation of the solid sample collected from the downhole location confirmed that Multi-StimScale effectively solubilized and dispersed the primarily BaSOâ‚„-based scale, into fine particles without significant adhesion to the glass. Unlike traditional mechanical removal methods, which can be costly, time-consuming, and potentially damaging to well infrastructure, the Multi-StimScale approach provides several advantages:

Higher Efficiency: The treatment dissolves and disperses the scale chemically, significantly reducing the need for repeated mechanical interventions.

Improved System Integrity: Eliminates the risk of physical damage to well components associated with mechanical scraping or jetting.

Operational Simplicity: Simplifies scale removal by minimizing the need for complex downhole equipment and reducing the potential for equipment wear.

Cost Reduction: Potentially reduces overall well maintenance costs by extending the intervals between interventions and minimizing downtime.

Enhanced Water Quality: The product effectively addresses scale without impacting water quality or creating emulsions, crucial for maintaining optimal production flow.

Neat Multi-StimScale and the 75/25 treatment mixture with fresh water were identified as the most effective formulations. To enhance performance further, it is recommended to preflush with 2-5% MultiClean-2000 in fresh water to remove any organic coating, ensuring maximum contact and solubility.
